Industrial Hearing
Protection Products
|
| We sell custom-made products
starting at $30 a pair. These are made
of a floatable material and are available in multi-colors
(vvvvvvvv).
We make
these while you wait. If you have a group of 10 or more we will come to
your location. This is a great idea for gun shows and other outdoor
events. If desired, we will bring a sound booth and do hearing screenings
for a small set-up fee.
We have done this in the past at the Texas
Parks and Wildlife Outdoor Event That is held each fall in the Austin,
Texas area. |

Our Ears
are Built to Hear |
| The ear is a complex organ
that's built to hear. It's made to collect sound and change it into
electrical impulses that the brain can understand. Because of this, the
ear has no natural defense against noise. If you work, live, or play in
noise surroundings, your hearing is at risk. The good news is, you can
prevent hearing loss caused by noise. Simply wear adequate hearing
protection whenever you're in noisy surroundings. |

When
Sounds Become Noise |
| In general, sound is noise if
you must raise your voice to be heard above it. When noise is too loud, it
kills nerve endings in the inner ear. This holds true even for sounds that
don't seem unpleasant, such as loud music. Remember, your ear is not a
muscles. When it comes to noise, there's no such thing as toughening up
your ears. If the bang of a jackhammer of the drone of a lawn mower does
not seem loud to you, it is probably because you have already lost part of
your hearing. |

Noise
Causes Hearing Loss |
The damage caused by excessive
noise, the most common cause of hearing loss, is often painless and
gradual. The amount of hearing loss
depends on how loud the noise is and how long it lasts.
- Temporary loss may cause your ears to
ring or your hearing to be muffled for several hours.
- Permanent loss, due to repeated noise
exposure, limits your ability to hear higher pitched sounds, such as
children voices and some musical instruments.

Wearing
Hearing Protection Is Up To You: |
| Hearing protection- earplugs or
earmuffs- work by reducing the amount of sound entering your ears. Try
several styles of plugs or muffs to find what's most comfortable for you.
Once you've got the equipment, be sure to wear it. |
